Stella Lou Morris Young, 83, of Mustang, OK, left her earthly life on January 12, 2021 in her home surrounded by her immediate family.
Stella was born to Lloyd & Iva Morris in their home in Kaw City, OK on Wednesday, September 22, 1937. She was one of 5 children.
Stella attended Ponca City High School where she was a member of the Student Council. In the fall of 1955, Stella graduated from high school. She took the typing test at Western Union and passed. She moved to Farmington, New Mexico. Stella LOVED working at Western Union. Stella married Bob Hicks on February 22, 1957. She and Bob adopted Renee in 1961, Glen in 1963, and Marcus was born in 1966. Stella kept an immaculate home and enjoyed her young children. During that time, she received her Red Cross Life Saving Certificate and Scuba Certification. Around 1968, Stella moved to Oklahoma City and returned to work at Western Union in downtown Oklahoma City. Stella met and married Warren Young in October of 1971. She and Warren moved to Mustang, Oklahoma. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Stella worked as a secretary for a few years at Honeywell. In May of 1977, Stella obtained her Oklahoma State Real Estate License. She managed her brother's optometrist's office and other brother's investment properties. Stella enjoyed reading, swimming, visiting with family and friends, and gardening – particularly tomatoes. She and Warren went to Estes Park, CO 29 consecutive years. Stella believed her biggest accomplishments were raising her children and her real estate career. When her Parkinson's was revealed to the family, she was determined to remain strong and fight with all her might. She knew she was incredibly blessed with all of her family and all that she had been able to accomplish with them and for them.
She went by many names: Stella, "Friendly", Babe, Aunt Stella, Grammy, Me Maw, Stell, Tata, Grandma, Mom, MOTHER, and Stella The Red Cross. She is survived by her husband Warren Young of Mustang, Daughter Renee Hicks Snyder (Tom) of Mustang, son Marcus Hicks of Kansas City, MO, step-son Bruce Young (Marshi) of Austin, TX, step-daughter Vickie Anderson (Mark) of Oklahoma City, MO, Sister Rose Marie Pruitt (Jim) of Parkville, Mo, Sister-in-law Dr. Anne Morris of Oklahoma City, Grandchildren: Jennifer Moore, James Anderson, Mendy Dietert, Brady Dietert, Jeffrey Anderson, Derek Jacob, Benjamin Hicks, Hallie Hicks, and Jada Snyder. Bonus Granddaughters: Shauna Joy & Stella Koonce.
Great Grandchildren: Adalyn Baker, Kyle Anderson, Carson Anderson, Caden Anderson, Ella Anderson, Annaliese Anderson, Elliott Anderson, Mariah Moore, McKenzie Moore, Jayden Moore.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, brothers Earl and Lloyd Morris, sister Ruby Joy, and son James Glen Hicks.
