Mrs. Harmon was born on January 9, 1955 in Lake Charles where she attended LaGrange High School. She worked many years in the food industry and also as a housekeeper. Mrs. Harmon was a devoted Catholic and member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and devotedly prayed the rosary.
She will be remembered for her giving, kind heart, always willing to help anyone in need. Mrs. Harmon was considered the rock of her entire family and they affectionately called her “the boss.” She adored her family and grandchildren and cherish the moments spent with them. She especially enjoyed listening to her late father, Boozoo Chavis, playing his well known zydeco music. Mrs. Harmon enjoyed cooking and baking and being outdoors. Her past time was spent playing bingo, cards, and slot machines.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Curtis Harmon of Lake Charles; children, Shelvin John (Donna) of Lake Charles, Sheldon John (Alana) of Jacksonville, FL, Joneeka John of Lake Charles, and Santana John (McKeithen Duhon) of Lake Charles; siblings, Louanna Guidry (the late John), Wilson Chavis, Jr. (the late Alberta), Licia Reed (Cleveland), and Rellis Chavis, Sr. (Johnnie Belle) all of Lake Charles; nine grandchildren, Ta’tiara, Jadonta’, Jaylyn, Dillan, King, McKenzie, Kamryn, Marley, and Carson; two great grandchildren, Knox and Kain; Godchildren, Tomeka, Kayla, Courtney, and Terrance; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonia and Wilson “Boozoo” Chavis, Sr. and a brother, Charles Chavis.
