Sandra Lee Nelson, beloved mother, sister and grandmother passed away peacefully at her home in Cincinnati, OH on January 11, 2021. Age 73. She was a mother of four Little Women: Krisi, Amy, Becky and Julie; sister to Gwyn Lenhart, Clay Thornton and Bethany Dalton-Kash; grandmother to six grandchildren Alex, Summer and Sven Skinner; Joshua and Makenna Orr, and Abby Koch; and aunt to Tracy Bulharowski, Trent Thornton, Danielle Lenhart and David Lenhart. She was born in Wilkinsburg, PA to Hazel Painter (d. 2015) and Richard Thornton (d. 1986) and spent her childhood and teenage years in Irwin, Pennsylvania. She attended Ambassador College in Pasadena, CA and especially enjoyed her three years in Bricket Wood, England as part of the Ambassador overseas student program. She raised her children in Southern California and enjoyed a successful career in real estate for many years. She moved to Ohio in 2003 to be near her beloved mother Hazel Painter Thornton and two of her siblings. Sandy loved God, the Bible, entertaining, travel, bridge, reading, nature and lifelong learning. She was a loving mother, known for her hospitality, service to others and sweet thoughtfulness. Her emphasis was to live a life based on God's Word to lay a foundation for eternal life. She will be greatly missed. A small funeral with family and friends will be held at Mt. Moriah cemetery on Thursday, January 14 at 11 a.m.
