Erma grew up in Olive Hill, KY. She was the second oldest child of fourteen children. From a very early age, Erma acted as the primary caregiver to her siblings and others in her family and community. Eventually, she moved to Columbus, OH where she married her husband, the late James Edward Plummer, Sr and had three children. James, Erma, and the children frequently moved between Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia for work. Eventually they settled in Clarksburg, WV and in the 1980’s opened a successful restaurant in Summit Park.
Erma Jean was cared for, loved, respected, and admired by her family. Her love, lessons, and her family’s love for her will never diminish. She was a trusted sister, passionate widow, lovable friend, mother, and grandmother. She was very excited when she became a great- grandmother. Erma Jean was also a passionate and devoted child of God. Erma Jean will be sweetly missed.
Erma is survived by one daughter, Joanna Mae Elder; one son, James Eddie Plummer, Jr; grandchildren, Michael Christopher (Paula) Elder, Casey Lynn Maxwell, Justin Lee (Zachary) Elder, and Austin David (Mikeanna) ReBrook; great-grandchildren, Aiden Tobias Elder and Ofelia Rose Emerson King-ReBrook; and her lovely fur-babies, Zues, Noriega, Appollo, and Dos.
In addition to her parents and husband, Erma was preceded in death by her older sister, Patricia Ann Rebrook.
