He enlisted into the Army in 1964 and served in the Vietam War until 1966.
He then worked for Air America in Thailand as a flight mechanic and continued to work overseas as a pilot in New Guinea and Singapore. He retired as a log truck owner-operator in 2007. He enjoyed boating and working on cars.
Jay is survived by his wife, Kay, of 50 years; daughters, Debbie and Christine Myers, son-in-law Erik Haus, grandson, Quinn Haus, brothers David and Dan, and sister, Joan.
