Virginia "Yonie" Morales King
March 18, 1939 - January 10, 2021

Surrounded by family, Virginia "Yonie" Morales King passed away in her Kensington, Maryland home the evening of Sunday, January 10, 2021 after her long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Virginia was born in the City of Manila, Philippines on March 18, 1939 to parents, Rosenda and Jose Morales. She had three siblings--Jose, Amelia, and Rafael--and is survived by Rafael.

As a single woman, Virginia bravely left Manila and moved to Washington, DC in 1962 where she worked for the World Bank, retiring after 33 years. She married her lifelong husband, Edward "Ed" King, Jr., in 1971. Ed and Yonie moved to their Kensington, Maryland home in 1974 and had 2 children--Eddie and Kristine. Her favorite activities were mahjong, gardening, shopping, reading; and, especially, spending time with her family--both in the Philippines and the United States. Yonie always looked forward to traveling "home" to the Philippines, ensuring her husband and children also had good relationships with her family there.

Virginia is survived by her husband (Ed), children (Eddie King and wife, Kristy King, of Gaithersburg, Maryland; Kristine Arboneaux and husband, Tom Arboneaux, of Virginia Beach, Virginia), nine grandchildren (Kaylan, Dillon, Alyssa, Amelia, Gabrielle, Brooke, Ethan, Matthew, and Eli), and innumerable nieces and nephews who considered her to be a second mom. No one felt more welcome than when with Yonie. May she be granted eternal rest and may our Lord's perpetual light shine upon her.

A viewing for relatives and friends will be held at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 11801 Claridge Road, Wheaton, MD on Tuesday, January 19 from 10 to 11 am, where Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am. Service will be live streamed, please check back for updated livestream information. Interment at Gate of Heaven cemetery.
