Susan Coppejans Hodges-Rozas left this earth way too soon for unlimited saltwater fishing, front row seats to LSU Basketball Games and endless books to read. She passed at 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, after a brief, but hard-fought battle with Covid-19. She will be greatly missed by the many, many people she loved and cared about. Susan was a fun and energetic little lady with a huge heart and a loving personality. Her loves of reading and writing were well recognized and published, as she did her best to right all the wrongs of this world through letters and written stories. She loved fishing, LSU Basketball, traveling, taking care of others in any combination. Susan was born on May 24, 1944, in New Orleans, where she graduated from Fortier High School. In 1962, she enrolled at LSU joined Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and graduated in 1966 with a Bachelors in English. After a five-year move to teach pre-school in California (during a brief marriage), she returned to Louisiana to make Baton Rouge her home where she was soon employed by the LSU Law School as editor of the Law Review and later moved to the LSU Graphic Services department (where she met and worked with her late husband Woodroe) until retiring in 1999. A faithful and active member of University Methodist Church, she enjoyed services, group studies and most of all the fellowship. Susan was a devoted friend, grandmother, aunt, cousin and loved by all. Susan is survived by her loving husband, Irving "Gene" Rozas; stepsons David (Staci) Rozas and Troy Hodges; grandsons Jackson and Roman Rozas, Walker and Adley Hodges (their mother Vicki); nephews Dr. Stephen Coppejans and family, Mark "Dink" Coppejans and family, cousins Jamie (Bryan) Pellegrin and David (Rachel) Dansky and their families, lifelong friends Raymond and Sandra Sibley and the entire Sibley family, and her beloved Boston terrier Camille. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Carmen Coppejans; brother, Elroy Coppejans and wife Vee Coppejans; cousin, Jane Calvin Dansky; and her former husband of 33 years and fishing buddy Woodroe Denson Hodges. Pallbearers: Jason Sibley, Joey Sibley, Hunter Seguin, Braeden Pellegrin, Walker Hodges, Adley Hodges. Honorary Pallbearers: Raymond Sibley, Bryan Pellegrin, David Dansky, David Rozas and Troy Hodges. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., Monday, January 18, from 10 a.m. until service at 12 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Katie Simpson. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to University United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice. To view and sign the online guestbook, please visit www.rabenhorst.com.
