Donald A. Dunn, 76, of Wichita Falls Texas passed away Sunday January 10, 2021 in Wichita Falls Texas. Funeral Services will be held 10 AM Thursday January 21, 2021 at the Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held Wednesday January 20th from 6-7PM. Donald was blessed with his son, Don Jr in 1964 and his daughter, Angela in 1968. Some might say they gave him a few or many gray hairs, but he was always there to help guide them into adulthood. Donald played hard and worked even harder. In his youth he enjoyed fishing with his wife, Mary, and hunting with his grandson, Cody. In 1989 he and Mary opened the original Hwy Café and shortly thereafter the 1989 earthquake hit in California. He and his brother, Jackey, headed to California to rebuild Michaels Arts and Crafts stores. They spent the next 3-4 years working and traveling before coming back to Wichita Falls and running Dunn’s Construction. In the late 90’s/early 2000’s the Hwy Café had grown, so he built a new building, giving it a new location that still stands today. He and his brother decided to take on another venture and open Double D Liquor. Many of you know him from his past 19 years at Double D. You might come in just to catch up on the latest gossip, get you something to drink, cash a check, or to see if his latest numbers had hit on the Pick 3 lotto. As much as you might say work was his biggest hobby, the truth is, his grandchildren were the true happiness of his life. He spent his mornings scheming with his grandson, Justin, about drinking Wild Turkey and chasing wild women. And he spent his Sundays with his grandchildren, Charley and Everlee, play fighting and rough housing. He has touched many lives through his endeavors and he will be truly missed by many. Survivors include his wife, Mary Dunn; son, Donald Dunn, JR.; grandchildren Cody Morgan and wife Janna and Justin Morgan; great-grandchildren, Tripp, Charley, and Everlee; 2 brothers, Jackey Dunn and wife Debbie and Kenneth Dunn. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Angela Dunn; sister Barbara Baker.
