Iris Zell Richards, age 95, widow of Allen Woods Richards, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Baptist Health Lexington. She was born in Ringgold, Georgia on November 17, 1925 to the late Waco Walters Sr. and Pearl Bessie Parsons Walters. She was a School Teacher at Leestown Junior High. Survivors include one daughter, Karen (Craig) Chiles and two sons, Gerald Fields, and Greg (Kathy) Fields, stepdaughters, Cheri (Stephen) Wiggins, and Patti (David) Simpson, grandchildren, Sommer (Javier) Rovira, Chase Fields, Timothy West, Danielle (Corey) Johnson, Ashley (Jeff) Orberson, Kasey Fields and Alex Chiles. Great grandchildren Stella Fields, Will, Carter and Jack Orberson and Nathan Johnson, one sister Laquata Brooks, step grandchildren, Robert (Cara) Coleman, Elizabeth (Elijah) Taylor, Rebecca (Thad) Winter, David (Katherine) Simpson and Jeremy (Emily) Simpson and a special friend Tim Anderkin. Besides her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by one brother Waco Walters Jr. Services will be 1:30 PM Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Camp Nelson National Cemetery with Pastor Bob Baker officiating. Betts & West Funeral Home is honored to serve the Richards Family. Interment will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
