Dorothy L. Payne (née Lawrence), best known as Dee to friends and family, passed away on January 12, 2021 surrounded by her loving daughters. Born in 1928 to Frank and Dot Lawrence of Cleveland, Dorothy graduated from Ohio State University before marrying her husband of 45 years, Daniel P. Payne of Philo.

Dorothy had just celebrated her 92nd birthday with family and neighbors by launching Chinese lanterns into the night sky.

Dorothy was the devoted mother of Pamela (Jerrell) Hafertepen, Cindy (Jonathon Gould) Payne, Linda (Timothy) Jenkins, loving grandmother of Amanda (Louis) Schultz and Jason (Marie) Hafertepen, great grandmother to Emma and Liam Schultz and Jacob and Eli Hafertepen. Dee was a good friend of her neighbors, especially Dan and Lori Dulle.

Services will be held privately due to Covid protocol, but a public memorial will be celebrated at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Cincinnati.
