Charles Leaton Frost, 84, of Springfield, formerly of Taylorville and Buffalo, IL, passed away at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.

Charles was born on February 29, 1936 in Taylorville, the son of Howard P. and Ruby M. Wallace Frost. He married LaVerne Rose Loman on July 13, 1955 in Taylorville.

Charles was a 1954 graduate of Taylorville High School. He served in the United States Army in the American sector of Berlin, Germany. After his service to our country, he worked at Gilbert Larges Automotive and State Farm Insurance in Taylorville. In 1968, he moved his family from Taylorville to Buffalo and sold farming equipment for Westlake Fertilizer Equipment. In 1998, Charles helped open Mitsubishi Motors in Bloomington and retired from there after more than 10 years of service. During this time, he also pastored at Church of God in Springfield. Charles loved to travel with his wife across the United States in their RV and loved spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Carolyn Rippon; two brothers, James and Ronald Frost; and nephew, Tommy Rippon.

Charles is survived by his wife, LaVerne Frost of Springfield; three sons, Mark (wife, Linda) of Owaneco, IL, Jerald (wife, Shirley) of Einburg, and Charles "Matt" Frost of Springfield; two daughters, Jean (husband, Greg) Rathgeber and Mary Everson, both of Springfield; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; two siblings, Don (wife, Carolyn) Frost of Otsego, MI and Patricia (husband, Larry) Eggerman of Taylorville; and brother-in-law, Tom (wife, Sue) Rippon.

Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Ceremonies will be held at a later date.

The family is being served by Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 South Grand Ave. West, Springfield.
