Archdale- Robert Earl Baker, age 89 went home to be with on Jesus Sunday, January 10, 2021.

Earl was born September 25, 1931, in Johnston County, the son of the late Clee David Baker and Clara Bell Baker. He was of the Baptist faith, and attended The Hope 4 You Church faithfully as long as his health permitted. Earl was saved when he was 18 years old and served the Lord faithfully for 71 years. He retired from Drexel Heritage Furniture with over 47 years of Service. He loved reading his Bible, enjoyed good preaching, attending camp meeting services, fellowshipping with brothers and sisters in Christ, and going to gospel music concerts.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna McLamb Baker and his second wife, Idell Baker. Also preceding him in death were his children, Evelyn Rose and Eddie Earl Baker; his sisters, Virginia Furtrell, Dorothy Jernigan, and Betty Joyce Baker and brothers, Donnie, Bruce, Sherwood, and Larry Baker.

He is survived by his step-daughter, Nina Renee Williams of Archdale; his sisters, Norma Jean Messer of Four Oaks, Wilma Conrad of Winston-Salem, Deborah House and husband Frankie of Micro; his brother, Jerry Baker and wife Gail of Selma and several grandchildren and step-grandchildren.

A 2:00 p.m. graveside service will be held Friday, January 15, 2021, at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery, with Pastor Joe Horrell officiating. The family will receive friends Friday prior to the service, from 12:00-1:15 p.m., at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.

Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
