Carol Ruth Whittemore, born December 23, 1927 in Brush, Colorado passed peacefully at the home of her daughter, Janae, on Saturday, April 25, 2020. She is survived by her three children, Gene Whittemore, Janae Weston and Merilee Rifkind, their spouses, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, her sister Wanda Beck, and her little dog Puff.

Carol married Sidney William Whittemore, whom she met while attending Union college in Nebraska; and lived a full and happy life raising her family and enjoying her grandchildren. She enjoyed camping and waterskiing and learned to snow ski when she was in her 50s. Carol and Sid loved going on motorcycle rides and Carol always wanted another motorcycle even in her 90s, which no one allowed. She also loved various forms of crafting but loved cross-stitch and making greeting cards the most and continued stitching until her final days. Carol loved to travel even if it was just a short trip into the mountains or a fun trip to Mexico or Florida to visit family. After Sidney's passing, she loved going on adventures with Janae.

Carol was very involved in her church and played the piano quite often for services at the Estes Park SDA church. She also attended church in Thornton after selling the house in Estes. She had many friends at both locations. Her deep religious beliefs gave her a lot of peace at the end of her full life.

Carol resided in Thornton, CO until moving in with Janae. Carol and Sid also had a second home in Estes Park, CO that they enjoyed going to every weekend until the flood in 2013. She loved doing gardening at their home and was very close with her neighbors who helped her when she got “a bit older” and still wanted to shovel snow or work too hard in the yard.

Carol also loved to go out in the country where Gene lived. She was always excited to take a ride on the four wheeler or watching whatever activity everyone was involved in out there. She loved speeding down the road in a side by side with anyone that would take her.

Carol was a kind heart and was loved everywhere she went. She had beautiful white hair that everyone noticed and was known by her grandchildren as “Tidbit" because she was so much shorter than they are. She loved that.

Carol will be greatly missed by family and friends.
