Glen Ray

MONROE, LA. Mr. Glen Ray was born at Bastrop, Louisiana on April 29, 1945 to the late Dewey Ray and Edna Ray. He passed away at his home on the morning of January 11, 2021. In addition to his parents Mr. Ray is preceded in death by his wife Annette Myers Ray and a step-daughter Terri Albritton.

Glen was a longtime resident of Bastrop, Louisiana before moving to Monroe. Mr. Ray was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a retired supervisor with International Paper Company. He was also very active with the Bastrop Little League baseball where he coached and mentored numerous young men through the years. Glen was a precious brother and beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He was the rock of his family and was always a there for them. He was a friend to many and was loved by all fortunate to know him.

Glen is survived by his wife Margaret Chevallier Ray; his two children, Bryan Ray and Shellie Akers; six grandchildren, Karista Ray, Briley Ray, Sand Ray, Abbianne Ray, Alyssa Akers, and Addison Akers. He is also survived by two step-children, Neil Chevallier and Sherri Byrnes; four step-grandchildren, Cody Albritton, Kayla Roberson, Lauren Cater, and Brady Byrnes; sister, Judy Middlebrooks and husband Steve; brother, Rev. Mike Ray and wife Aliene; and a great-grandchild, Nathan Ray.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 14, 2021 beginning at 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. A private family service will follow at the funeral home with Glen's brother, Reverend Mike Ray officiating. Committal services and interment will be at the Mer Rouge Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mr. Ray's grandsons.

The family request that all those attending the public visitation to please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
