Danny Louis Harrell born July 31, 1948 to James Daniel and Mary Jo Harrell in Dallas, Texas and passed on January 8, 2021.

Danny loved music, when he graduated from Mesquite High School in 1966 and was a member of the “Skeeter Guard”. He could play twelve different instruments. He was a member of three rock & roll bands. The Reverbs, The Kavemen and The Concrete Marshmellow. The last one while serving aboard the U.S.S Yorktown. Danny spent four years in the U.S. Navy with one tour in Vietnam in early 1968 during the "TET" Offensive. He finished his Navy tour as an E-5 Bosins Mate 2 while serving aboard Yorktown. A segment of "Get Smart" was filmed in 1967. In late 1968 "Tora Tora Tora" was filmed on Yorktown. After taking the film crew and aircraft to Pearl Harbor, they picked up the ABC television crew. On December 28, 1968 Danny 3rd division with help from 1st & 2nd divisions, picked up the Apollo 8 capsule that had made the 1st historic trip around the moon. like to update everyone on daddy.

As many of you know, daddy had a heart attack on Christmas Eve 12-24-2020 and later developed Pulmonary Edema. He was in ICU completely sedated and on a ventilator since Christmas. He was tested for COVID, thankfully that came back negative. He had several health issues that compounded the situation. He fought the fight as long as he could. I received a call from the nurse a little after 2AM on January 8, 2021 informing me that daddy had passed away.

Danny was married four times, two ended in divorce Ginger and Diana. Two passed away, Sharlotte and Valerie. Danny joins his father, mother, two wives, and a grandson Cameron in death.

Danny is survived by his brother Larry and his wife, Amy . Sister Joyce Ryan. His children, Brooke Straume, Dayna Johnson and Daniel Harrell . 10 grandchildren, Carl Straume and Tiffany, Keith Straume, Sierra Johnson, Skyler Johnson, Noah Price, EllaPrice, Danyel Harrell, Sharlotte Harrell and Hailey Harrell Along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation and funeral service will be at Troy Suggs Funeral Home located at 7623 Military Pkwy, Dallas TX 75227

Unfortunately, this is the first availability that the DFW National Cemetery has for burial services. The plan is to meet at Troy Suggs Funeral Home at 12:30PM on Jan 25, 2021 where we will be escorted to the cemetery

Everyone is more than welcome to attend all 3 gatherings.
