Mrs. Iona E. Evans, 89, of 116 Tiffin Tower, died on Friday, September 28, 1979 at 2:10 p.m. in Medical Center Hospital in Chillicothe. She had been ill one week.

Born April 22, 1890 in Madison County, Ohio, she was the daughter of James P. and Laura M. Wilson Houchard. She was a former co-owner and manager of the Zello Chemical Company in Shelby, Ohio. Mrs. Evans came to Chillicothe in 1955 and was the area's demonstrator for the Cincinnati firm of Fashion Frock Clothing for 16 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church for more than 20 years.

She was predeceased by two sons, Walter Cron in 1950; and Ralph Roebuck in 1976; plus one sister and one brother. She is survived by one granddaughter, Mrs. Charles W. (Betty) Cameron of Galion; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at the Ware Funeral Home with burial in Plain City's Forest Grove Cemetery.
