Frank Patterson Wright, 95, of Lutherville, MD, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at his home.
Born on August 25, 1925 in Mardella Springs, MD, he was the son of the late Claude and Eunice Mason Wright. He was the beloved husband of Virginia Howard Wright, with whom he had celebrated 71 years of marriage.

Frank worked his way up through the ranks of Avis Truck Rental, becoming Vice President in charge of the Mid Atlantic and Southern east coast. In 1976, he bought two franchises from Avis and formed York Truck Rental, which operated in York and Lancaster, PA. He sold the business and retired in 1985.

He loved dogs and had German Shorthair and English Pointers throughout his adult life. During the 1960s and 70s, he showed them up and down the east coast.

He loved to hunt which is how he discovered the farm he and Ginny bought in 1968. They named it Huntingfields. Unlived in for the prior 20 years, it required a complete renovation before they could move into it in 1972. They continued to add additions and outbuildings during their 38 year residency at the farm.

After his retirement, he and Ginny became seriously involved in horse breeding and racing. They started breeding in 1979 and racing in 1982. At their peak, they had over 50 horses at one time. Their big winners included Valay Maid, Lady Sabelia, Blue Sky Princess, Gold Rolls and Inner Harbour. He served on the boards of The Maryland Horse Breeders Association and Maryland Million, Ltd.

A resident of Brightwood Club Association for the last 10 years, he also served on its board.

A gregarious man, Ginny often laughed that he should have been a politician, because he couldn't cross a room without greeting everyone in it.

Surviving him in addition to his wife is a daughter: Elizabeth "Liz" Wright and husband Charles Holman.

Frank was predeceased by his 6 siblings: Claude, Jr., Horace, Lillian Marvel, Ella Larmore, Gertrude Hastings and Shirley Adcock.

Funeral services and interment are private. (Due to the worldwide coronavirus; AKA: COVID-19)

In lieu of flowers please consider donations to St. John Episcopal Church, Western Run, 3738 Butler Road, Reisterstown MD 21136 or Gilchrist Hospice, 11311 McCormick Road, Suite 350, Hunt Valley, MD 21031
