CLEBURNE - It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of our father, Ben P. Cardenas, Jr., 83, on Jan. 12, 2021.

Ben was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, where he graduated from Trimble Tech High School. He married Mary Helen Medina in May, 1958. They were married for 61 years and raised a family of six children on the North Side of Fort Worth. He served in both the U.S. Army and the Texas Army National Guard. He worked as a painter at Bell Helicopter and retired after a 40 year career. Ben was devoted to his family and enjoyed working on cars, talking politics and hunting. He was a lifelong member of All Saints Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen; parents, Ben, Sr., and Julia Cardenas; sisters, Irene P. Cardenas, Carmen Claassen and Delphina Been; daughter-in-law, Yolanda M. Cardenas; and grandsons, JR Russell and Patrick Cardenas.

Survivors: Sons, Carlos Cardenas and wife, Cynthia and Ben N. Cardenas; daughter, Leticia Russell and husband, Lester; son, Gerard Cardenas and wife, Kathleen; daughters, Edith Alvarado and husband, John and Catherine Morales and husband, Pete; sister, Maricella Moore and husband, Richard; 11 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Due to COVID-19 concerns, the family will hold a private grave-side service and a Catholic memorial church service, at a later date.
