Fred J. Lindsey, 81, a retired educator and widower of LaVerne Young Lindsey expired November 14, 2016 in Jackson. He was the third child of the late, Edna Thurmond Lindsey and Warren Lindsey, Sr. Born on Oct. 22, 1935 in Lexington, Fred was a lifelong member of Epworth United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mirian L. Moody; and a brother, Warren Lindsey, Jr. He is survived by twin sons: Bryan Keith (Connie F. Smith) Lindsey, Stone Mountain, GA and Byron Kevin Lindsey, Lexington; three grandchildren, Isaac Sly Lindsey, Lexington, caregiver, Ryan K. Lindsey, Jackson, and Lauren A. Lindsey, Auburn, AL; seven great-grandchildren, two of whom were caregivers, Tyvarras D. Lindsey and Ilexis T. Lindsey, Jackson; a sister and caregiver, Muriel L. Sullivan, Cleveland; a former daughter-in-law and caregiver, Linda D. Smith, Jackson, and relatives and friends. His funeral will be Saturday, November 19 at noon at Asia Baptist Church, 224 Church St., Lexington. Porter and Sons Funeral Home (662) 834-3198.
