Raleigh, North Carolina - Evelyn was born in Granite Falls, North Carolina on November 7, 1932. She enjoyed living in Caldwell County and was thankful for all it had to offer growing up. Evelyn and her mother, Eddie Elizabeth Payne Laycock got on a bus in 1956 and headed to the City of Raleigh. She married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" H. Cook , in 1964 and together created an amazing family.
She took much pride in working for Cameron Brown and Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance in Raleigh. Evelyn worked diligently until she was in her early eighties, however her most important job was being a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Her family was her life and it showed through in everything she did, especially cooking meals, playing piano, staying home with them, and unwavering love. She will be greatly missed.
A private family graveside service will be held to celebrate her life.
She is survived by daughters: Jackie Cook Marshburn of Sanford, NC; Elizabeth Cook Rohweder and husband Thomas, of Raleigh; Patricia Cook Britt of Apex, NC; five grandchildren: Eric Marshburn and wife Meredith, of Greensboro; Laura Marshburn, of Sanford; Kyle Rohweder, Austin Rohweder, of Raleigh and Abbie Britt, of Apex; two great-grandchildren: Luke Marshburn and Kate Marshburn, nephew; Jimmy Corpening and wife Phelecia and their son, Jason Corpening of Tryon, NC. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Harold Cook, son-in-law, Dan Marshburn, and sister, Patricia Frasher.
