Richard Harold "Dick" Stephenson, 82, of Tracy, California, passed away on April 11, 2020. He was born on September 13, 1937, in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona. Dick served in the U.S. Navy Reserves, where he made significant contributions to our nation's defense.

Dick had a long and successful career as a chemical and industrial supplies salesman. Prior to retiring, he worked as a courier for Chase Messengers in Encino, CA, a company owned by Eric Scott, famous for playing Ben Walton on The Waltons. After retiring, Dick served as the RV Park manager at the Tracy Elk's Lodge.

He was very active in the Elks and served twice as Exalted Ruler of the Tracy Elks Lodge. Dick enjoyed fishing and traveling in his RV with the Elks and his beloved wife, Betty, whom he cared for lovingly after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2008. He was a proud Mexican-American, cherishing his heritage and the legacy of his grandfather, Adolfo Fuentes, who served as the editor of a revolutionary newspaper called El Padre Padilla in Chihuahua City. Dick's mother, Clothidle "Lena" Fuentes Lamb, came to the United States at the age of 9 after her father fled for his life due to his revolutionary activities. He shared a special bond with his late uncle, Roberto "Bob" Fuentes, who passed away in 1995.

Dick was a devoted father and Pop-pop. He is survived by his daughter Patricia Petak, his son Anthony (Lynn) Stephenson, his daughter Natalie (Rick) Reebel, his step-daughter Anita (Bill) Robinette, his step-son Stephen Steelman, 20 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Betty Jane Stephenson, his son Richard Robert Stephenson, his mother Clothidle "Lena" Fuentes Lamb, and his father Richard Henry Stephenson.

In his free time, Dick found solace in worshiping at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tracy, CA. He was an engaged parishioner and took great joy in his faith.

Dick's joy for life extended to his furry companions, his dogs C'mon and C'mere.

We remember Dick Stephenson as a dedicated serviceman, a successful professional, an active community member, a loving father, and a Pop-pop who touched the lives of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A private memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Tracy, CA to honor Dick's life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Dick Stephenson.
