Paul was born in St. Louis, MO on August 10, 1939 to Howard and Eleanor Wade.

He attended Holy Name Catholic School and after graduation met the love of his life, Connie Christensen. In 1965, they married and had three children. His children went on to grow his family that he so loved spending time with: Alisa (John) Sattem of Lucas, TX, John (Michelle) Wade and Scott Wade of Omaha. Some of his greatest joy came from his six grandkids: Steven, Emily, Jack, Austin, Alex and Amanda!

He was a dedicated police officer for almost 30 years and loved to tell his grandkids all of his stories. He also was a devout Catholic. Paul went to St. Joan of Arc Church every Saturday night at 5pm. He never missed it as well as most daily masses. After church on Saturday, Mom and Dad would go to dinner and a movie. Family was very important to him!

Paul was a simple man. He enjoyed the simple things in life: God, family, food, fishing, his lawn and yes-BEER! He loved beer! That was his thing. A cold beer after he cut the grass, grilling, or Husker football. He also loved taking in a great June night with John Wade and a cold beer at a College World Series baseball game or watching Cardinals baseball or a hockey playoff game.

Paul was a foodie! He appreciated good food! The process of perfecting baby back ribs with John Sattem was a day to be enjoyed as well as the ice cream desserts Michelle Wade makes. You knew if you did it right he would say “delish” and then retire to the couch to enjoy his food coma.

Many an extended Wade family gathering with all the siblings, nieces and nephews involved lots of laughs and food. Memories of Christmas Eve at his house will always be extra special to all the family!

He loved fishing especially when he was with the F&Fer’s. One week in Canada with his best friends! No snags in heaven!

He was all for a car trip with Connie traveling the country with many trips to see the relatives in St. Louis. He especially loved the drive out to Bellingham, Washington to see Liz. He also had some great trips to where Alisa lived in Colorado or Texas. Paul hit the slopes with her skiing at 70 and lounged by the pool with his grandkids at 80!

Sundays used to be about his lawn and a big family dinner which Connie always made special. Paul's lawn was his baby growing up. As the years past, it changed to Scott and Dad’s Sunday ritual, growing tomatoes! Uncle Terry would have breakfast ready and Dad and Scott would tend to the garden. On harvest days he was like a kid at Christmas! It was so much fun watching him pick the tomatoes and tell me how much his dad would love this. Dad loved tomatoes but his love for Sunday breakfast was more. It was fun to see brothers debate politics and religion and lots of other sensitive topics.

But most of all Paul was a good man! When asked what he wanted to be remembered for he said, “I set a good example!” And that you did Dad! We love you always!!
