Wife Barbara Jean, marriage 15 June 1951. Children: John, Bill and Debbie. Carl served in A2C US Air Force.Carl Clemment Powell, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday December 19, 2018 at Caring Hearts Memory Care Center in Pocatello, Idaho.

Carl was born March 31, 1933 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Evan & Blanche Powell. Carl was the 4th of 5 children. He graduated from West High School in Denver, CO in 1950. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Air Force and proudly served during the Korean War and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant before being honorably discharged.

On June 15, 1951 he married Barbara Amis in Denver CO. They were blessed with three children John, Bill, and Debbie. In 1960, they moved to Pocatello, ID. They have called Pocatello home for the last 58 years.

In order to allow Barbara to stay home with their three young children, he worked several jobs, sometimes several at one time. His true passion and love was for building and creating things, working with his hands.

In 1979 he retired from the United States Postal Service and as Kris would say, took on the most meaningful and by far his favorite job of his career, watching after his twin granddaughters Kim and Kris.

Carl's love for animals (especially dogs) was huge. He volunteered at the animal shelter and walked the shelter dogs.

He is survived by the love of his life Barbara of 67 years, his son John (Lucy) Powell of Reno, NV, his son Bill (Teresa) Powell of Nampa, ID and his daughter Debbie (Dan) Wagner of Chubbuck, ID. His Grandchildren Tracy (Jim) Mance, Kim (Rick) Stouse, Kris (Nathan) Diekemper, Sara (Jeremy) Heistand, Cody (Chrissy) Powell, and his great grandchildren: Sierra, Kai, Brayden, Conner, Keegan and Karsen.

He is preceded in death by his parents and three siblings.

A Celebration of life will be held at Grace Lutheran Church 1350 Baldy Ave Pocatello, Idaho on Thursday December 27, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. With a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a pet related charity of your choice in Carl's name.
