In just a few short weeks after graduation, Eric enlisted in the United States Army and began his career in Military Law Enforcement. Eric climbed the ranks and traveled all over the Unites States, he was stationed in Virginia, Kansas, & Hawaii; and traveled the world including Panama, Germany, & China. Eric loved his life and lived it to its fullest! Eric was honorably discharged from the Army in early 1994, and by mid-1994 Eric and completed his Federal Bureau of Prisons- Law Enforcement Training. He remained a law enforcement Officer where he received numerous awards and commendations throughout his career 24-year career until he retired in 2018.
Even with all he had achieved up to that point, Erics proudest moment and greatest achievement is when he became a father to Eric L. Harris Jr & Angelena K. Harris. His mission became to build a life for his children where they would be secure and have everything they needed to succeed.
Eric was a life-long student, He graduated from Kansas City Kansas Community College in 1997 with an Associates in Arts Degree; Upper Iowa University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 2000; and Lastly Wilmington University with a Masters of Business Administration Degree in 2008.
Eric found joy in dancing and joined the couples dance community at the Crab Tavern in Darby, Pa. Eric was known for his nice suits, fedora hats and gliding across the floor. Eric frequented the events around the city and made many friends.
Eric is preceded in death by his parents Josephus & Doris Harris Sr, & his older brother Darryl Harris Sr. He is survived by his siblings; Sheila & (Reginald) Woods, Sherl Harris, Josephus & (April) Harris Jr. His 2 children Eric L Harris Jr & Angelena K. Harris; and 5 grandchildren whom he adored; Eric Lionel Harris III, Aaliyah Nicole Harris, Elijah Nico Harris, Raelynn Kaye Harris, & Journee Ava Perrin. 1 Uncle Barry Colclough, and 1 Aunt Charlene Poe. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, & friends.
