Funeral services for Emmitt Thomas Channell of Durant were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 9 in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home. Officiating ministers were his son, Bro. Emmitt Channell Jr. and Bro. Phillip Franks.
Mr. Channel died quite suddenly on Friday, September 6. He was 81.
A native of Choctaw County he was born on September 10. 1903. He was a retired employee of the City of Greenwood and a member of the Durant Church of Christ.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Hattie Mae Allen of Huntsville, Alabama and Marie Doyle of Grand Rapids, Michigan: one son, Emmitt Thomas Channell, Jr. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and nine grandchildren.
Interment was in Huntsville, Mississippi with Southern in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers were Charles Parkerson, Steve Channell, Grady Scoggins, Burlin Scoggins Ralph Cooper and Julius Guion.
