Vivian L. Stone, 89, a resident of Kennedy Avenue, Oswego, passed away on Friday May 18, 2012, at her home.

Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Helen “Nellie” (Newstead) Potter.

She was a graduate of Oswego High School and the Rochester Business Institute.

She retired as the assistant director of the Alumni Association at the State University of Oswego.

She was a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America and was a long time volunteer at St. John’s Church.

Vivian is survived by her son, James (Joanne) Stone of Oswego; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, John Stone, in 1995; and her son, Dale Stone, in 1993.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. from St. Mary’s Church.

Burial will be in St.Paul’s Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Monday from 4-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church.
