WELCOME: A Public Visitation for Darrell V. Miller, 71, of Welcome, Minnesota, will be from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Kramer Family Funeral Home, #704 First St. in Welcome, Minnesota. There will be Military Honors by the Welcome American Legion Post #553 and the Nassen-Detert American Legion Post #539 of Ceylon at 3:00 p.m. outside of the funeral home.

Darrell was called to his eternal rest on Sunday morning, November 1, 2020 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato, Minnesota. Messages of sympathy can be sent to the family on line at www.kramerfuneralhome.com. The staff at Kramer Family Funeral Home extends their appreciation to the Miller family for their trust.

Darrell Victor Miller was born on August 15, 1949 to Victor and Nelda (Wohlhuter) Miller in Fairmont, Minnesota. He received his education in Welcome School later graduating with the class of 1968. On April 1, 1969 he was drafted into the United States Army serving in Vietnam until his honorable discharge on November 9, 1970. Darrell was employed at the Welcome Creamery and later at Fairmont Tamper. In 1971 he was united in marriage to Barbara Goraczkowski at Holy Family Catholic Church in East Chain, Minnesota. To this union four children were born, Jen, Liz, Tim and Amanda. In 1981 they divorced. In 1983 he was united in marriage to Debra Mohlenbrock in rural Mountain Lake, Minnesota and Darrell gained another son, Jesse Bettin. They made their home in Welcome and Darrell was employed at Tamper in Fairmont. They later owned and operated the Highland House Café in Fairmont until they operated the Welcome Café in Welcome for several years. Darrell served on the Welcome Fire Department from 1975-1999. He also was a member of the Welcome American Legion Post #553 for over 50 years. He enjoyed gardening and sharing his produce. You could find him cleaning and sweeping his garage, canning corn, fishing, camping, playing pool or going to Rocky Mountain Oysters in Ceylon.

He is survived by his wife, Deb Miller of Welcome, Minnesota; his children, Jen (Rick) Souba of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Liz (Brad) Keck of Owatonna, Minnesota, Amanda (Chad) Burud of Fergus Falls, Minnesota; Tim (Kirsten) Miller of Fairmont, Minnesota and Jesse (Angel) Bettin of Sherburn, Minnesota; eleven grandchildren; sister, Susan (Harold-“Bocky” Borchardt of Welcome, Minnesota; brother, Merlyn “Jean” Miller of Fairmont, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Corinne (Rick) Firme of Owatonna, Minnesota; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Nelda Miller; grandson, Cayden Burud; father and mother-in-law, Henry and Joan Mohlenbrock and other relatives.
