Joseph Bradford Patterson “Brad”, 80, of China Grove, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021.

Brad was born August 24, 1940 in Cabarrus County, a son of the late Joseph Cowan Patterson and Margaret Bradford Patterson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother James Patterson and sister Mary Ann Cauble.

Brad grew up in the Odell community and was a graduate of Odell “University”. In his younger years he enjoyed playing softball, racquetball, and bowling. He was a huge fan of the Duke Blue Devils basketball team, NASCAR, and loved his dogs Dexter and Duke. Brad enjoyed vacationing at the beach and did so often. He worked for Cannon Mills for over 40 years, where he retired as a supervisor in the #7 spinning department. He attended Royal Oaks Baptist Church.

He is survived by his children; son, Jody Patterson; daughters, Penny Davis, Pamela Overstreet (Tim), Wendy Patterson, Jamie Smith (Robert), 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and lifelong partner Pat “Punkin” Broome.

Services for Brad will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel in Kannapolis, with the Rev. Joey Spry and Rev. Andy Downs officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior at 1:00 P.M. Interment will directly follow at Gilwood Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
