Susan Diane (Sue) Stoner, 69, of Chili, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours on Tuesday, December 15th, 2020.
Sue was born in Peru, Indiana on January 7th, 1951 to Laura Frances (Alexandra) and Roscoe Eugene Hodson. She graduated from North Miami High School in 1969. Shortly after graduation, she briefly moved to the Seattle, Washington area to be with her husband who was training in the U.S. Army Reserves. After returning home, she lived out the rest of her days in Chili.
She worked in many different capacities over her career including being a Child Care Worker at Whites Residential Services, clerical positions within the Miami Co Courthouse including the Recorder’s office, in the Administration office of Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester, and most recently as a Registrar for Dukes Memorial Hospital.
Sue’s entire life has been spent caring for others. For many years, she visited kids from White’s Institute and Sangralea Valley that didn’t have family of their own. More recently, for the last 12 years, her whole world has revolved around her grandkids, who she loved very much. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for them, often at the expense of going without herself.
Some of Sue’s favorite hobbies included going camping, cooking for her family, attending the grandkids various school events, and playing solitaire.
She married her husband James on April 13th, 1969. He preceded her in death on April 9th, 2017.
Surviving family include her mother Laura Frances, sister Laura Mae (Darryl) Pegg, son Kris, daughter Kelli, and grandkids Lainey and Jackson Stoner, along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Her father Roscoe, sister Cheryl Havens, and brother John preceded her in death.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Chili United Methodist Church, 6643 N. State Rd. 19, Denver, IN 46926 at a later date, once it is safe to do so. There will be no funeral service.
