Bernard "Bernie" Owen Williams, age 87, of Indianapolis, passed away January 8, 2021. Bernie was born November 13, 1933 in Beech Grove, Indiana to Raymond L. and Mary Ruth (Warrenburg) Williams.

Bernie attended Southport High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1952. Bernie was also a proud veteran, having honorably served his country in the United States Army. He spent a long career as a cable repairman with Indiana Bell Telephone (now AT&T) working there for 40 years. He was a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) and Telephone Pioneers of America as well as being a member of Emmanuel Church - Banta Campus.

Bernie spent some of his leisure time woodworking and especially enjoyed building birdhouses. He also enjoyed playing volleyball, car racing (particularly NASCAR and the Indianapolis 500), watching Colts football and IU Hoosiers basketball. He also enjoyed listening to music and was a huge fan of both Neil Diamond and Elvis Presley. Although he loved all of these, his greatest loves were his God, his family and his country, he was a very patriotic American!

Bernie is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years, Sue Anne (Siebert) Williams, whom he married April 16, 1955; his children, Teresa (Stephen) Ruark, Diane (Kirk) Smith and Lisa (Jim) Timm; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and three more on the way; a special nephew, Mark (Deb) Richards; his brother, Marty (Carolyn) Williams; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Williams and a grandson, Jared Moran.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. January 13, 2021 at Emmanuel Church - Banta Campus - 6602 South Harding Avenue, Indianapolis. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services.
