Married to Dorcus Phy on June 20, 1887Son of Jonathan Morrell & Melvina E. Teel.

Since his Saturday death and Sunday funeral were reported in the newspaper on Saturday, July 24th, he must have died the previous Saturday, July 17th (not June 27th as indicated by the modern marker, which was actually the date of death of his infant son Benjamin). Also, there is no evidence that he was born on 2 Nov 1858 as indicated on the modern marker (in fact, the evidence is to the contrary, please see below).

"Death of Frank P. Morrell.
The community was shocked to learn of the sudden death of Frank P. Morrell, zanjero of the Kenilworth district, from neuralgia of the heart. He came to town last Saturday complaining of a pain in his shoulder, but thought nothing serious of it. In the afternoon severe cramps were experienced, and Dr. Brockaway was called in. Everything possible was done, but in three-quarters of an hour Frank Morrell was a corpse. The funeral took place Sunday afternoon from the residence of Isam Phy, Rev. I. T. Whittemore conducting impressive services. The remains were conducted to the grave by a large concourse of mourning relatives and friends. Deceased left a widow and three children, who have the warmest sympathy of the entire community.
Frank P. Morrell was born in Texas and was 39 years old. He was a good husband and father as well as an upright citizen, and his loss will be severely felt."
- The Florence Tribune (Florence, AZ), Saturday, 24 July 1897, p. 3

1) The date of death per cemetery records is 27 June 1897 (a Sunday). However, the obituary says Frank died "last Saturday," and that the funeral took place on "Sunday afternoon."

2) The obituary notice in The Florence Tribune on 24 July (picked up in The Arizona Republican in Phoenix a few days later on Tuesday, 27 July, p. 4) stated that Frank died "last Saturday," which would be 17 July 1897.

Note: There is no evidence to support a date of birth of 2 Nov 1858 which appears in many ancestry trees (date always undocumented), nor is there any evidence that he was born in Navarro Co. The family was in Little Elm, Denton Co., TX, in the 1860 census. Furthermore, there was a John W. Morrel b. 2 Nov 1859 (per grave marker) who res. in Navarro Co. in 1860, whose data is the likely cause of this confusion.

Year of birth likely about 1858: He was age 2 in the 1860 census (20 Jun 1860), age 38 when he registered to vote on 3 Oct 1896, and age 39 when he died on 17 Jul 1897. If he was b. 2 Nov 1858, he would have been ages 1, 37, and 38 on those same three dates.
