July 24, 1954 - December 13, 2020

Obituary
Jennifer Pierce Reed, 66, of North Salem, Indiana went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, December 13, 2020 following a brief illness. The first of six children, Jennifer was born on July 24, 1954 in Ann Arbor, MI to Fredrick and Mary Jo (Jadwin) Pierce. Jennifer graduated from Bob Jones Academy and continued her studies at Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. Later, she transferred to Greenville Technical College and received an Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene. Jennifer followed in the footsteps of her mother, who was also a dental hygienist.

On September 2, 1978 at First Baptist Church of Danville, IL, Jennifer married James Stanley Reed and they began their life in Plainfield, IN. Both enjoyed country life and lived for many years in rural North Salem, Indiana where she grew a variety of plants and filled shelves with her canned goods. Jim worked as an electrical engineer while Jennifer dedicated her efforts to homeschooling all five of their children. In addition to teaching their children life skills, such as cooking and sewing, she transported them to music lessons and 4-H meetings.

An important aspect of Jennifer’s life was her faith in Jesus. She put her trust in Him as a child and never seemed to waver from her strong faith. She enjoyed singing in various church choirs, and most recently was using her gifting with children in teaching weekly Sunday school at Faith Baptist Church in Avon, IN.

Jennifer was extremely passionate about her grandchildren. Always ready to travel, she would take several trips a year to visit them in PA, FL, and CA. She showered them with attention, words of praise, and many gifts. Each grandchild felt the big love of Gramma Jen through generous Christmas presents, thoughtful birthday gifts, and frequent clothing packages. Everyone close to Jennifer, even her past employers at Nature’s Workshop and MRC Wood Products, recognized her priorities. Her prerequisite for working was having flexibility to visit the grandkids.

Jennifer is survived by her husband of 42 years, James Stanley; her siblings, Suzanna Jones, Cynthia Pierce, Benjamin Pierce, Betsy Hamby, and Nancy Payne; her children, Daniel (Brenda), Jonathan (Betsy), Aaron (Suzanne), Nora-Leigh (Benjamin), and Alexander; and her 8 grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents, Dr. Fredrick and Mary Jo (Jadwin) Pierce. A memorial service is being planned for the summer of 2021.
