Juanita I. Blizzard Norman
April 28, 1929 - January 05, 2021

Juanita I. Norman, 91 of Punta Gorda, FL since 2006 passed away peacefully of natural causes on Tuesday morning January 5, 2021 at the Sandhill Gardens Assisted Living.

She was born April 28, 1929 in Newark to Reuben and Ada (Mooney) Blizzard.

In her younger days, she could be heard around central Ohio singing with her brother and sisters. She had a beautiful voice and loved to entertain those around her by singing Rockabilly and Christian songs. Her knack for yodeling even continued into her 90’s.

She took many memorable trips including Australia, Hawaii and seeing the icebergs in Alaska, but her favorite place was at home with her family. She loved taking walks on her “violet path” back at the creek, feeding her birds and watching the wildlife. Much of the local landscape was captured in her paintings. Her ability to make Sunday’s special for her family will never be forgotten – church, Sunday dinners, playing on the floor with her grandchildren. She left us with so many loving, fun memories. We are truly blessed to have those times.

Juanita a former Newark, Ohio resident was a graduate of Newark High School and Muskingum Technical College. She retired as a LPN in 1998 after 28 years with Licking Memorial Hospital and Newark Healthcare Centre. She currently was attending the Sunshine Baptist Church in Punta Gorda and had previously attended the Rocky Fork Church of Christ and Licking Valley Church of Christ. She was a member of the Land of Legend Decorative Painters.

She is survived by four daughters, Vickie (Dennis Stout) Dupler of Naples, FL, Susan (Larry) Darling of Punta Gorda, FL, Pam (Jerry) Ainley of Port Charlotte, FL, Sheila (Terry) Howell of Pataskala, OH; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Louise Romine; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James E. Norman on March 6, 1997; daughter Brenda, siblings, Dorothy Davis, Ruth Hafer, Donald and Marcella Williams; 3 sons-in-law and a special friend, John Vaiea.

The Norman family would like to express our deep gratitude to Nicole and Jan of Punta Gorda Hospice and the special healthcare workers at Sandhill Gardens Assisted Living for their excellent care of Juanita.

Calling hours will be observed Saturday January 16th from 10:30-11:30 am at the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home 1850 West Main Street with private funeral services to follow.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Bladensburg, OH.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Tidewell Hospice 1144 Victoria Street, Port Charlotte, FL 33952-1145.
