Connie Joyce Jackson Collins, 61, of Mansfield, Louisiana entered into eternal rest at Willis Knighton North Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana on December 22, 2020.

A graveside service was held at Shady Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Mansfield, Louisiana on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. Officiating at the service was Rev. Anna Morris-Jackson (Wesley U.M.C. in Mansfield), with assistance from Rev. Emily L. Carroll (Shady Grove U.M.C.), along with local Pastors Ronnie Morris and Joe Wiggins.

Connie was born to the late Carl Roosevelt Jackson, Jr. and Oristene Brooks Jackson on August 12, 1959 in Mansfield, Louisiana. She was the eldest of three children born to this union.

For the last thirtynine years, she was the dedicated wife of Rev. Aaron Jerome Collins. To their devoted union three children were born: Christy Lynn, Timothy Carl and Jessica Rose.

Connie grew up in the community of South Mansfield and was educated in the DeSoto Parish Public School System where she remained an honor student from the 1st through the 12th grade. She was a 1980 graduate of Wiley College (Marshall, TX) majoring in Hotel & Restaurant Management, with a minor in Accounting.

During her work career, she held several positions including Nutrition Coordinator for the DeSoto Parish Council on Aging, as bookkeeper for her late father’s business (Jackson Timber Dealer), as an accountant at International Paper Company (Mansfield Mill) and most recently for the DeSoto Parish School Board in their Special Services office, until her death.

She united with Shady Grove United Methodist Church at an early age where she later became a devoted choir member, blessed with the voice of an angel. One of her greatest passions was a desire to be of service to people anytime and anywhere, which was a testament to her steadfast faith in God. We will greatly miss her beautiful smile and endearing personality. She was definitely a respected and treasured soul.

To forever cherish her memories are her husband, Rev. Aaron Jerome Collins, daughters Christy Lynn Collins and Jessica Rose Collins, son Timothy Carl Collins, granddaughter Aralyn Joy Collins; her mother Oristene Jackson; one brother Marvin Jackson and one sister Kathy Davis (husband Mark Davis). She also leaves one niece (Kayla LeAnn Davis) and one nephew (Nicholas Wade Davis), and a host of other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
