Pauline Sanders, “Penny” of Locust Grove, VA passed away on January 8, 2021. Born on 8/13/1947 in Lawrence, MA, daughter of Herve & Bernadette Carrier. She attended St. Anne's Catholic High School and was married on 7/14/1966 to Michael James, US Army. She lived in Japan for 2 years after marriage before returning to the states where she raised her three children.

She moved from MD to WV in 1993 where she retired from the FBI after 36 years in the identification division. After the passing of her husband, she met and married her current husband Eugene Sanders in 1999 and moved to Locust Grove, VA in 2006.

She did volunteer work at women's shelters and loved to put on a production of “Sister Act” at local hospitals and nursing homes. She honeymooned with Gene in Aruba. They fell in love with the “One Happy Island” and vacationed there every year after. Most family & friends have very fond memories of going there with them.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, first husband and one son.

She is survived by her husband Gene Sanders, her brother Henry & Eileen Carrier and her children Renee & Patrick Murray, Aimee & John Stiles and Steven & Dorrie James. She has 10 grandchildren Matthew (Amanda), Abbey (Michael), Kate (Tony), John Mark (Shirin), Jeffrey, Samantha (Walter), Joey (Kyla), Kelsea, B.J. and Mariah. She has 11 great grandchildren Dakota, Brayden, Haylen, Harper, Joshua, Sophia, Parker, Vincent, Zeke, Darian and Hayven. She also has many brothers & sisters-in-law along with nieces and nephews.

A special thank you goes to her grandson Jeffrey, whom she called her guardian angel.

There will be a Celebration of her life at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Wednesday 1/13/21from 6:00-8:00pm and a Catholic burial mass, Thursday 1/14/2021 at 11:00am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Fredericksburg, VA followed by burial at Culpepper National Cemetery.
