John was the son of Harold and Charlaine Lyon. He attended Woodward Public Schools graduating in 1959. He attended Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, He was married to Angie Raye Moore on August 4, 1978.
This union was blessed with two children.
John retired with honors after 31 years in the Army National Guard and 28 years of service for the State of Oklahoma.
He is survived by one son Dustin Lynn of Woodward, one daughter Dacia Gonser of Buffalo, Okla. Three grandchildren Jacoby Carter, Kaleb and Chloe Gonser.
He was survived by one brother Lee and his wife Arlene Lyon of Woodward, sister Carol and husband Dallas Peilof Woodward. Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother Jerry Lyon.
Graveside service was held at Elmwood Cemetery.
