On Monday, January 4, 2021, Bobby R Gray, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his sleep at 79. Born on March 3, 1941, in Barbourville, Kentucky, to Estil and Geraldine Gray.
At 17, he joined the United States Navy, retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer after 26 years of honorable service. In 1963 he met and married the love of his life Joy Lee Morgan. Bobby earned his bachelor's degree at California State College of Long Beach. He spent his retirement years both teaching and taking college classes. Bobby will always be remembered as a man who would do anything for his family and who pushed others to be better.
He is preceded in death by his sister Carolyn McDaniel, daughters Bobbie Crandall, Carol Monshizadeh, Kay Hall, nephew Allen Boring, and granddaughter Shannon Dean.
He is survived by his spouse Joy Gray of 57 years, sisters, Betty Gilles, Patty Jacobs, Shirley Gubler, daughter Susan Dean, grandchildren Shawn Crandall, Latasha Wood, Matthew Crandall, Casie Myers, Morgan Crandall, Josh Hall, Ghazual Monshizadeh, Nora Rollins, Jeremiah Hall, Sohail Monshizadeh, and 16 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held from 4–6 PM on Friday, January 22, 2021, at Bean Massey Burge Funeral Home, 2951 S. Beltline Road, Grand Prairie. A funeral service will take place at 11 AM on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at Abundant Life Assembly of God, 3829 S Carrier Parkway, Grand Prairie.
