Janice Wood (Woodhouse)
August 25, 1940 - December 22, 2020
Roseville, California - Janice Wood (nee Cunningham) was the youngest of four children born to Herman Cunningham and Marjorie Nicholson of Elk Grove, CA. A graduate of CSUS, she married George G. ("Woody") Woodhouse in 1963 – a twenty-year relationship that resulted in three children. Janice and family were longtime members of Fremont Presbyterian Church, where she also worked as church secretary for nearly a decade.
In the second half of her life, she pursued an MA and new career in counseling, and found love again with Michael Wood, whom she married in 1990, relocating to Red Bluff, CA. After Michael died of multiple myelosis in 1998, Jan continued to work in local social services until her retirement in 2003. She loved music and the arts and enjoyed quilting. She especially appreciated the companionship of her loving dogs Bair and Biskit.
In her last years, she struggled with diabetes and dementia, finally falling victim to covid-19.
Janice is survived by sister Carol (Cunningham) Davis of Blacksburg, VA and brother David Cunningham of Roseville, CA, and her three children: Leslie Ann Castro-Woodhouse of Sausalito, CA; Charles Andrew Woodhouse of San Francisco, CA; George Christopher Woodhouse of Ames, IA; and granddaughter Mia Dupard of Clear Lake, CA.
Per her wishes, her remains will be scattered at sea. A memorial service at Fremont Presbyterian Church is planned for later in 2021.
