Dan was a graduate of Northern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. He was an avid NIU Huskies sports fan, particularly football, and loved going to games and tailgates with friends. After college, Dan used his strong work ethic to build a successful computer programing career. After retirement, he brought that same work ethic and dedication to being a full-time caregiver for this first grandchild, Harper. He absolutely loved being a grandpa. As a dad, he gave nothing but support, encouragement, and love to his daughters. As a husband, he was loyal, loving, and a true partner to his wife, Diane. Dan had a kind and gentle heart and a fondness for all living creatures. He was always feeding squirrels or ushering spiders from the house outside. Dan enjoyed golf, fall picnics, Christmas magic, reading history books, and music, particularly playing the guitar. Dan will be remembered for his quick-witted humor, sensitive nature, quirky personality, humility, and integrity.
Dan is survived by his wife of 45 years, Diane (Callaway) Boyd, two daughters, Stephanie Starr and Emily (Bill) Stang, three grandchildren, Harper, Hunter and JJ, brother, Jim Boyd and sister, Gail Boyd. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Boyd and mother, Dolores (Canning) Boyd. He was a beloved uncle and good friend to many.
For those who would like to leave a lasting tribute to Dan’s life, memorial donations may be made to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (https://www.theaftd.org/), 2700 Horizon Drive, Suite 120, King of Prussia, PA 19406.
