John-Floyd Crawley, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, NC after a lengthy illness. Born to P.H. Crawley and Martha Early Crawley of Marion, on July 4, 1937, John-Floyd was referred to as a real “fire-cracker.” John-Floyd graduated from Hickory High School where he was an NC All State basketball player. He married Katharine Kanupp Crawley on February 14, 1959 and lovingly joked on their 50th, and then 60th wedding anniversary that he earned a congressional medal of honor for their long union. John-Floyd is survived by his wife Katharine of Hickory, NC, his daughter, Katrina Crawley Conwell (Randy) of Hickory, NC, his daughter Kate Crawley Hall (Chris) of Hickory, NC, grandchildren - Samantha Hoppe of Texas, Melissa Crawley of Colorado, Patrick James Crawley of NH, Kaydence Hall of Hickory, NC, and 5 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, Pat Crawley. In addition to a long career in Sales, John-Floyd officiated local baseball, basketball and football games for many years. He was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod where he participated in several Bible Study groups and was a member of the Men’s Sunday School Class. Due to Covid-19, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be sent to the Good Samaritan's Fund at St. Stephens Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod 2304 Springs Rd. NE Hickory, NC 28601.
