Kathryn BJ "Kate" Freeman West, 93 of Jourdanton, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2019.

Kate was born on October 9, 1925 in San Angelo to Ernest & Laura Mae Freeman. Kate was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Kate loved her family more than anything and faithfully cared for them in many ways, but most joyfully through her delicious cooking and baking. She lived a life of faith before them and pointed them toward Jesus at every opportunity. Kate was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Jourdanton and Cowboy Fellowship of Atascosa County.

Kate was preceded in death by her father Ernest William Freeman and mother Laura Mae Taylor Freeman, her husband of 45 years Lloyd Allen West, brothers Ernest Freeman, Ed Freeman and sisters Nadine Fern and Novellene Freeman.

She is survived by her children Sandra Toy and husband Thomas of Abilene, Sharon Wier and husband Glenn of Pleasanton, and Roy West and wife Cathy of College Station. She is also survived by eight brothers and sisters, Myrtle Chase of Canon City, CO, Charles Freeman and wife Jackie of San Marcos, Edna "Jenny" Lawton and husband Frank of San Diego, CA, Dorothy Reazin and husband Carl of Albuquerque, NM, Ray Embree of Staples, Cindy Goerlitz of Seattle, WA, Cecil Freeman and wife Rachel of San Antonio and Earnestine Smith of San Antonio.

Kate is also survived by eight grandchildren – Tammy Deal (Ronnie), Mike Chisum (Julie), Jennifer West (Sam), Wilson Winn (Abby), Russell Wier (Dianne), Grady Wier (Lisa), Hannah and Elizabeth West; 13 great-grandchildren – Daxton Deal (Courtney), Delaney Ernst (Derek), Connor, Katelyn and Kamryn Chisum, McKinley and Jaxon West, William & Keaton Winn, Reagan Wier, Emerson, Killian, and Aurora Wier, and three great-great grandchildren – Daughtry and Decker Ernst, and Dray Deal, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cowboy Fellowship of Atascosa County or First Baptist Church of Jourdanton.

Visitation will be conducted at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton on Wednesday, July 10 from 2-8 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be on Thursday, July 11 at 11:00 am at the Cowboy Fellowship Church in Jourdanton, 561 FM 3350, with a meal to follow. Services will conclude at that time.
