SPRINGVILLE - Carolyn J. McCoy, 85, of Springville, formerly of Humphrey, passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, at Bertrand Chaffee Hospital, after a short illness.

She was born May 16, 1935, in Mechanicsville, to the late Bernice and J. Raymond Kiley. On Oct. 20, 1956, in Mechanicsville, she married Robert L. McCoy, who survives.

She was employed at Carpet Town Furniture in Wellsville until her retirement.

Carolyn was a member of the First Baptist Church in Great Valley for almost 40 years, where she was very active in singing, children's ministries and social activities. She was also part of several quilting groups in western New York, and made donation quilts for local hospitals. She was involved in Prayer Shawl ministry, crocheting shawls for cancer patients.

She was a member of the Olean YMCA for many years, taking tai chi and yoga classes. She enjoyed skiing, gardening, Bible study, making homemade quilts and cheering on the Buffalo Bills.

She was kind to everyone she met and was a loving friend and neighbor.

Besides her husband, Carolyn is survived by her sister, Patricia Walker of South Carolina; and her children, Neil (Amy) McCoy of Newfane, Pamela (Douglas) Sapp of Bluffton, S.C. and Kelly (Scott) Benkelman of Springville. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
