Ida was the daughter of Samuel Clark Sr and Carolyn Virginia Ross Clark. She was the oldest and last living of 7 children. She was educated in the Crisp County School System was a Class of 1945 graduate of the Gillespie-Selden Institute in Cordele, Georgia. She graduated from Fort Valley State College in 1954 with a Bachelor Degree in Education. She attended Atlanta University (now Clark Atlanta University) and earned her Bachelor Degree in Library Science.

She began her career as an Elementary School Teacher in Fitzgerald, Georgia in 1955. She changed jobs to Cordele, Georgia a few years later and taught for 35 years until her retirement in 1990. She was one of the founding members, along with Lucille Harris, Betty Roberson and Lovie Wheeler, of the Valorette Social and Civic Club which has provided high school girls with scholarships, travel expenses and lifelong mentors for more than 50 years. She was a Golden Life Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc and an active member of the Macon Alumnae Chapter for 44 years. She was also a member of the Crisp County NAACP, Georgia Retired Educators Association, Crisp County Retired Teachers Association and the Crisp County Carnegie Library Board.

She was a lifelong member of Mount Zion First African Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia where she sand in the Choir, taught Sunday School, served on the Finance Board, President of the Missionary Society for over 20 years and as Secretary, preserved Mount Zion's history with her record keeping. She was a member of the Gum Creek Missionary Baptist Association, where she was formerly Dean of the Congress of Christian Education for 19 years. She loved to read, cook, travel, shop, attend Delta conventions and enjoy birthday celebrations with her best friends.

Ida was married to PFC Willie Frank Oliver Sr in 1947. Willie served in the U. S. Army during World War II and met an early death in 1954. They had 3 children. Ida was preceded in death by her only sister, Geraldine Johnson, 5 brothers, Willie Clark, Samuel Clark Jr, Herbert Clark, Marvin Clark and Paul Clark and 1 granddaughter, Whitney Kaye Oliver.

2 Daughters: Sandra P. Rodgers and Jean Oliver-Burks(James).
1 Son: Willie Frank Oliver Jr(Sheila).
7 Nieces: Barbara Wright, Rose Chiquita Broome, Lovette Rene Johnson, Regina Allen(Rick), Cassandra Glenn(Andre), June Glover(Fred) and Regina Patrick(Rodney).
4 Nephews: Reginald Johnson(Angelique), Rey Oliver(Linda), Leonard Oliver(Belinda) and Rev Clarence Williams(Andrea).
3 Grandchildren: Aprial Jackson, Daryl Rodgers and Angela Oliver.
2 Great Grandchildren: Auyana Wilson and Jabari Rodgers.

Graveside services were held Friday, January 15, 2021 at 3PM on the grounds of Mount Zion First African Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia.
