She graduated from Patricksburg High School and went for Nursing Assistant training at Bloomington Hospital. She married Richard Clayton White on December 31, 1950 at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Coal City where there were both members. They made their home in Brazil where together they worked to build a house on south State Road 59, and raise their daughter, Ricki and two sons, Mickey and Casey.
Florence was a hard working stay-at-home mother, devoting time to Brownies, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and PTA. She lived a life devoted to caring for others. In 1972 she went to work at Hardy Nursing Home, now Cloverleaf, where she worked as a nursing assistant, qualified medicine aide, and activity staff until her retirement 25 years later in 1997.
She was preceded in death by her husband, mother and father-in-law, Ismael and Mary Alice White; brothers, Dewey (Kathleen) Frye Tharron “Gwen” Frye and Johnny Frye, Reeta Moats and sisters-in-law, Nancy Frye, Grace (Woodrow) Leohr, Lorene (Ernest) Dubois, Louise (Troy) Kelley and Betty (Leo) Sebastian.
Florence is survived by her children, Ricki (Wayne) Loughmiller, Mickey (Kim) White, and Casey White; grandchildren, Lora (Brian) Hofmann, Robert (Stacey) Loughmiller, Dale White, Drew White, Carrie Good, Carmen Good, Christi Weaver, and Cynthia Weir. Great-Grandchildren, Avery Loughmiller, Brooklyn Pittsenbarger, Hayden Bowles, Prestan Loughmiller, Heidi Koch, Ashlie Koch, Natasha Laney, Addison Laney, Maddie Lloyd, Ella Weaver; Great-Great Grandchildren, Braylinn Layne, Aspyn Gordon, Makinley Koch and Laikyn Rife.
Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, a private service will be held at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with Pastors Chris Greg and Mark Grayless officiating and burial to follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery.
