Born in Jenkintown, PA, on March 29, 1946, a daughter of the late William E. and Kathryn McLoughlin Butt.
She attended Schoharie Schools and was a graduate of SUNY Cobleskill where she met her future husband Ron.
Barbara worked for the Sears and Roebuck Co. for a short while before joining her soulmate in a partnership at Floridale Farm, in the town of Florida, NY. Barbara took great pride in keeping the farm grounds looking beautiful with her love for gardening and being outdoors.
Barbara will always be remembered for her exceptional baking skills and by everyone who had a cake from "Cakes for All Occasions" by Barbara.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the local 4H where she taught sewing and baking, the NY Farm Bureau, the Minaville Reformed Church, and several other organizations she served alongside her husband Ron.
In her later years Barbara enjoyed traveling the East Coast with Ron and several of their friends in the RV until purchasing their dream vacation home in Surfside Beach, SC. Many memories were made in their home on the beach with her dear family and friends.
Barbara was gentle, caring, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and she was adored by all and will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially her recent care givers who went above and beyond to help care for her in a time of need.
She married Ronald J. Mead on April 21, 1968. He passed away on June 14, 2014.
Survivors include two cherished sons, Brian (Laurie) Mead of Amsterdam, Eric (Sandy) Mead of Amsterdam. Loving grandchildren, Emily, Cole, Madison, Kylee and Katie Mead. One brother, Thomas (Maryann) Butt of Scotia, NY and sister, Diana (Robert) Gillig of Delaware. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam.
