At a young age, Willie B worked to help take care of his family. His love for his family was just short of his love for God. He accepted God after a pleading from his wife, Thelma and his faith never wavered. Many times, he didn’t have food, transportation nor decent clothing, but he was never late for work and he didn’t miss a shift. He worked in the cotton fields, at a grocery store, in a manufacturing company, he was in the military, civil service, for the city and retired several times. As Sargent Franklin, he served as a Chaplin while deployed in the Persian Gulf War. But if you asked him where his success lies he would say, “In Christ”. Willie B always said that God took care of him throughout his life and “God don’t care no more for me than he does for anybody else”.
Reverend Dr. Willie B Franklin wanted simply to be called Willie, but he accepted Pastor or Reverend as titles. He completed his bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees all by scholarship from Andersonville Theological Seminary. He served as deacon and was eventually ordained at Union Hill C.P.C.A., under the leadership of the late Pastor McKinley Jones, Jr. He went on and served as a spiritual leader in bible studies, prison ministries, the military as a chaplain and in the individual lives of many. He pastored True Victory Baptist Church in North Pole, Alaska and Little Zion Primitive Baptist Church in Triana, Alabama.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Thelma J. Franklin; daughter, Yvonne A.
