It is with heavy hearts and wounded souls that we announce the death of our loving father, Martin O’Neil Jordan. He died in the VA hospital in Fayetteville, AR on December 28, 2020 from Covid 19.
Martin was born in San Francisco, CA on the 18th of August, 1947 to Chester Jordan and Emaline Jordan who preceeded him in death.

Marti is survived by his children, Shikkiah and Yiminta Jordan of Wagga Wagga, Australia. Two sons, Ashwa Jordan of Fayetteville, AR and Travis Houser of Houston, TX.,and their partners. Marti had 5 grandchildren whom he loved deeply and was so proud of- Ashleigh Jordan, Safiya Jordan, Max Jordan and Minko Jordan-Vote- all of Australia. And Sophia Houser of Houston, TX. Marti is also survived by two brothers, Joseph Jordan of TX and Michael Jordan of OK. Marti was much loved by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Marti is also survived by a long term friend, Kim Shivers, who was at his bedside when he passed.

Marti was a proud Choctaw man who walked the Red Road-a member of the Choctaw Nation Of Oklahoma.
Marti served his country from 1966 to 1969 doing two tours in Vietnam as an Army combat vet. Marti was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor with Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of second award. Marti was a proud Vietnam veteran and upon return from Vietnam became an active member of the Vietnam Veterans Against the War. Marti had Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from Vietnam and this inspired him to help his brothers suffering the same from the Vietnam war and also younger returning vets.
Marti was a well traveled man and experienced perpetual wanderlust. Marti traveled with his parents who were stationed in Japan. He spent many years of his childhood in Lequire, Oklahoma where his ancestors lay to rest in the family cemetery. Marti travelled through Australia, Europe, South East Asia, Central and South America- which gave him a deep respect for other cultures.
Marti graduated from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work in 1987. Such a degree was fitting for Marti who was passionate about social justice, racial equality, and championing the oppressed. Marti was active in the Civil Rights Movement and a member of the American Indian Movement.
Marti was compassionate and spent much of his time helping his community. Marti was a long time friend of Bills and this gave him purpose and peace.
Marti gave his life to Christ attending Christian Life Cathedral in Fayetteville, AR and was active in Celebrate Recovery.
To know Marti was to love him. Marti was gentle and fierce. Cheeky and irreverent. Passionate and loyal. He will be sorely missed by all that loved him. May he Rest In Peace knowing the world was better when he was in it.

Marti’s ashes will be interned at the National Cemetery at Fayetteville, AR and Marti will also be laid to rest at the family cemetery in Lequire, OK, with a private family burial.
