Jack Rankin, aged 97, of Lipan went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, December 18, 2014, with a smile on his face.

Jack was born in Melon, Texas August 19, 1917 to Noah and Laura Rankin. He married the love of his life, Louise Rowinsky on December 2, 1943.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years on March 4, 2012, parents, brothers, Truett, Joe and Howard, grandson’s Troy and Roy Rankin and great grandson, Michael Meixner.

He is survived by children and spouses, Jack Jr. and Marla of Springtown, Morrison and Linda, Sharon and Larry Lacey, and Carol and Mike Murphy all of Lipan, 19 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, his good buddy F.A Gossett, and the loving staff at Trinity Mission in Granbury.

Jack was a veteran who served in World War II. After serving in the army he was a farmer, deputy, car salesman, construction worker, house parent at the Pythian Home in Weatherford, and horse trader. Jack loved his family, horses, and dancing. He and Louise danced every week until Alzheimer's forced her to live in a nursing home. He lovingly cared for her until that time and then daily visited until finally joining her there.

Celebration of life will be January, 17, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Cowboy Church in Lipan.
