Thomas Henry Baskin
February 4, 1939 - January 3, 2021

Thomas Henry Baskin, age 81, of Bastrop, TX passed away peacefully at home with his family around him.

He was preceded in death by his first-born son, Thomas Allen Baskin, parents Herbert Pennel Baskin and Constance Grace Krause Baskin, sister Dorothy Rose Cox (Everett) and brother Dorsey Lee Baskin.

Tom is survived by his wife, Sandra Annette Edes Baskin, daughter Katherine Ann Soliz, son Daniel Eugene Baskin, granddaughters, Megan Michalik (Daniel), Victoria Soliz (Blake Wood), Chloe Soliz and Ava Soliz and great grandsons, Bennett and Christopher and niece Faye Cox.

Tom and Sandra had many adventures as he was a dedicated Navy man and loved working as an air traffic controller for 26 years, enlisting in Nov 1957 with two tours aboard aircraft carrier's the USS Shangri-La and USS Bennington and a tour in the Philippines in 1969 and Iceland in 1978, retiring in 1983 at NAS Chase Field, Beeville Tx. While in the Navy he earned six Good Conduct Medals, a National Defense Service Medal and a Vietnam Service Medal.

After retiring from the Navy, he worked for the San Antonio International Airport doing what he loved. They married on January 14, 1960 after meeting on a blind date. He then worked as a contracting office at Kelly AFB and Ft Sam Houston, retiring again in 1996.

Tom loved to take his granddaughters camping at the beach in their RV, going to Garner State Park and Blanco State Park and skiing at their condo in Colorado and many other excursions. He served for many years with CASA and Northeast Senior Assistance Co-op helping others.
