Jeff was born on April 1, 1959 in Marietta, GA to James Wyndell Akin and the late Patsy (Maxwell) Akin. He graduated from Rome High School, attended West Point Military Academy, and graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1996. He was employed with Robins Air Force Base as a contract officer. Jeff was a member of Harvest Methodist Church, and served in the parking ministry in past years. He was a faithful Auburn Tigers football fan, and enjoyed attending games with his life-long Auburn friends. Jeff loved grilling for family and friends, and was especially known for his delicious BBQ.
He enjoyed a wide variety of music, and collected playlists of different and unique artists. Jeff was very active with his sons' activities through the years, from coaching little league sports to being a member of the Houston County High School Boosters Club, where he served as President from 2018-2020. He was an active supporter of Go Dogs Go Rescue, Inc., fostering and training dogs that were waiting for their forever homes. Jeff will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
